Clean Eating Christmas Dog Treats

Did you forget your favourite furry friend when you were out Christmas shopping? Don’t want to brave Petsmart or Walmart during the final frenzied hours of Christmas shopping to get your best friend something?
About a half an hour and simple ingredients you already have on hand, you can make beautiful, healthy, homemade dog treats!
My daughter Alice and I made two types of dog treats this morning. The recipes were super easy and very quick to make!

We found the easiest recipes on Pinterest. The first one we made were Mint Buckwheat Dog Biscuits– filled with fresh mint and parsley to help with that doggie breath.
All you need is:
1½ cups buckwheat flour (you can probably find Bob’s Red Mill at your local grocery store)
4 Tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
2 Tablespoons fresh mint, finely chopped
1 Tablespoon pure honey
2 Tablespoons olive oil
1 egg, beaten
water (approx. 1-3 tsp)

The dough was easy to roll and cut out.
We also made Peanut Butter and Banana + Flax Seed Dog Biscuits. Boyd loves peanut butter and banana, so we knew he would love these cookies.

These cookies are even easier. You will need:
1 cup whole wheat flour (can be substituted with rice or coconut flour for a grain free option)
½ banana, mashed
⅓ cup peanut butter (I used Unsweetened all natural peanut butter from Costco)
2 Tbsp ground flax seed
¼ cup almond milk (unsweetened)
The cookies turned out great- Boyd was our taste tester and he loved them (although I’m not sure how much of a connoisseur he is as his favourite snack of the moment is frozen dog poo! Yuck! Mint dog cookies are a must!)

These will make great gifts for all our favourite doggie friends!

Choose happy 🙂
